The East Haven Connecticut shoreline community of Momauguin is located in the southern part of town bordered by the neighborhood of Morris Cove in New Haven and the neighborhood of Short Beach in Branford. Momauguin was named for Sachem Momauguin, chief of th Quinnipiacs, a native Indian Tribe.
Momauguin is home to the town beach, Momaguin School and a blending of single family homes, cottages and numerous condominium complexes.

Driving down Coe Avenue leads you directly to the town beach on Cosey Beach Avenue where East Haven residents willl find plenty of parking in the lot that is across the street from the beach.
Enjoy a refreshing swim in the waters of Long Island Sound or picnic under the pavilion. The kids will love the playgournd next to the picnic area or the new splash pad that is across from the main entrance to the beach.
There's a volleyball court, bocci court and a pavilion. After a day in the sun frolicking on the beach there are showers available too.
At the corner of of Coe Avenue and Cosey Beach Avenue is the Sandpiper Restaurant where you can visit their take out counter for some of the best seafood in the area, some ice cream or a nice cold drink. There is seating available outside.
The Sandpiper has a full dining room with an outside patio area if you'd like to enjoy a sit down lunch or dinner.

Hi Donna,
Great job showcasing Momauguin, I just love little beach communnities like this. So many of ours in SoCal have grown so much I miss places that look like this. Love the playground on the sand in your video. I'd bet the kids love this.
Hi Lynda! - While Momauguin is the only beach community in East Haven, there are others in neighborhing towns. I love them too. What's so nice is that you have the beauty of the beach within walking distance of almost anywhere you live in the area and a close-knit community connection.
Donna, You indeed live in a beautiful part of the country! I know where I'd be on a day like today! Great post!
Wanda - I consider myself very fortunate to live in an area where communities like Momauguin are so close by. I can either walk or jump in my car and be at a beach in less than 5 minutes. It's heaven!!
Donna all you had to say was sea food and you had me sold, looks like I am going to have to take a trip down there and check out the Sandpiper
Donna - This is truly a community I could appreciate, beach and seafood, you are speaking my language. Love the photos.
Donna, great post. You know my only exposure to the area has been with Yale NH Hosptial. I am looking forward to being shown the other side of the area! :D
Wonderful job, really. You have sold me on the area.
Looks like a great place to visit AND a great place to live.
George - Let me know when you'd like to go so we can do lunch!
Jennifer - It's a great combination in my book! You're making me hungry just thinking about it. :)
Andrea - You are in for such a plesant surprise when you see how great it is! :)
Will - It is definitely both. While I live in New Haven now, Momauguin is about 5 minutes from me and just a great place to visit.
Donna, this is a great presentation of Momauguin. It has the essence of a small beach community and those are the most charming. Florida is quickly losing them, although in recent years towns have awakened and protested and put a stop to some of the development by limiting height of buildings.
Sharon
Sharon - It not only has the feel of a small beach community but a great affordability level especially for first time homebuyers.
