1st Annual Branford Garden Club Scarecrow Contest On The Branford Green

If you've driven by the Branford Green this week you've seen some strange looking characters hanging around.  It's all part of the 1st Annual Branford Garden Club Scarecrow Contest on the Branford Green.

They've been on display since October 7th and tomorrow October 14th is the last day to stop by to see them and vote for your favorite.  The Branford Garden Club is sponsoring the event and members will be strolling around the green wearing their green and pink aprons accepting donations to replace the trees that were lost during tropical storm Irene.

Collections boxes for donations are also located at Branford Building Supply, Cohen's Bagels and Towne Pharmacy. 

I stopped by yesterday and it was so wonderful to see how many local organization businesses and families participated in decorating the green with so many unique looking scarecrows.  It's a fabulous display and the kids will love it!

Foxwood Crossing ia a very desirable Branford CT condo complex located in a lovely wooded setting off of Hemlock Road near the Lake Saltonstall hiking trails.

Understanding the general direction of the current Branford CT real estate market conditions is of vital importance to both buyers and sellers in order to help you make a more informed decision when buying or selling a home in Branford.

There are currently 165 Branford homes for sale ranging in price from $149,900 to $4,950,000.

During the months of January-June 2011 there were 59 homes that closed.  This is a decrease of 5 home as there were 64 homes that closed during January-June 2010.

The average sales prices of the homes sold from January-June 2011 was $434.778 with an average 126 days on the market versus $352,152 for those sold from January-June 2010 with an average 107 days on the market.

The median sales price for January-June 2011 was $330,000.

The median sales price for January-June 2010 was $290,000.

Below is a summary of Branford homes for sale and the Branford CT real estate market that provides a more in depth view of market conditions over the past twelve months.

In reviewing this comparison of year to year market data for Branford CT there has been a slight decrease in the number of homes sold and an increase in the average sales price.  The rise in the average sales price from last year to this year is due in part to the sale of four homes over $1 million.  The average days on market for homes sold this year has increased from the previous year.

RE/MAX Long Drive Qualifier & 2nd Annual Golfers Giving Back Event At The Fairways Driving Range In Branford Connecticut

What a great turnout today for the RE/MAX Long Drive Qualifier & 2nd Annual Golfers Giving Back Event that was held at The Fairways Driving Range in Branford Connecticut.

A number of agents from our RE/MAX Alliance office volunteered their time to help out at the registration table and recording the distance of each of the six shots the golfers were allowed to take in their bid to qualify.

This Long Drive Qualifier was for Region 1 and ran from 7:30am-12:00pm with an Open Divison and a Senior Division. Over 50 golfers from the region turned out to compete and give it their best shot at qualifying for the National Finals in November.   The six winners today from the Open Division and one from the Senior Division will now move on to the Region 1 Championship August 12th-14th in Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. Winners from this event advance to the World Finals held October 26th to November 4th in Mesquite, Nevada.

The RE/MAX Long Drive Qualifier was held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Golfers Giving Bank event which included among many othes six putting contests where entrants had an opportunity to win a $1,000 1st  first prize for each event if they sank the putt.  There was also a Hole in One Shoot-Out where golfers could try for a $1 million dollar prize for the winning shot.

Food and drinks were available for purchase throughout the day plus there were some great raffle prizes on hand too.  All proceeds from the entire event today go to the Veterans Housing Assistance Fund in New Haven.

Understanding the general direction of the current Branford condos real estate market is of vital importance to both sellers and buyers in order to help you make a more informed decision when buying or selling a condo in Branford CT.

There are currently 112 Branford condos for sale ranging in price from $84,000 to $1,900,000.

During the months of January-June 2011 there were 57 condos that closed which is a decrease of 17 condos as there were 74 condos that closed from January-June 2010..

The average sales prices of the Branford condos sold from January-June 2011 was $186,476 with an average 126 days on the market versus $197,659 for those sold from January-June 2010 with an average 111 days on the market.

Median sales price from January-June 2011 was $155,000.

Median sales price from January-June 2010 was $178,700.

Lobster Shack Branford Connecticut Has The Best Tasting Lobster Rolls Ever!

If you're a lover of lobster rolls as I am you've got to stop by the Lobster Shack located at 7 Indian Neck Avenue in Branford Connecticut.

Having heard rave reviews about the Loster Shack I had an opportunity to visit there for the first time last year when I was showing relocation clients from California propeties in Branford.  Being lobster lovers, they asked if there was anywhere nearby where we could get lobster rolls and the Lobster Shack was the first place to come to mind.

I had told my husband that these were the best lobster rolls I had ever had and have recommended the Lobster Shack to many friends and clients.

Our granddaughter was with us over the weekend and ended up staying until yesterday.  We decided since it was such a beautiful warm and sunny day we would to go out for lunch so of course I mentioned the Lobster Shack as the place to go to. 

Tucked away in the rear of Birbarie Marina is the red Lobster Shack trailer.  As you drive up the gravel driveway you'll find picnic tables with umbrellas and a spectacular view overlooking the Branford River. 

Owners Arlene and Nick Crismale opened the Lobster Shack four years ago and have carved out a little piece of paradise with a keep it simple menu, outstanding staff & service and great location.

Their lobster rolls are made with 1/4 pound of succulent fresh picked chunks of lobster meat with the perfect blend of butter and lemon on a toasted sub roll.  My husband loves lobster rolls but was never satisfied with the ones we bought from other places along the shoreline but has now too become a raving fan of the Lobster Shack after eating their mouth watering lobster roll yesterday.

In addition to lobster rolls the menu at the Lobster Shack also consists of shrimp rolls, clams on the half shell, soup of the day, sausage, peppers and onions sub, Hummel's hot dogs, assorted sodas, bottled water, chips and for dessert flavored gelato.  You're also welcome to bring your own wine and beer.

The Lobster Shack is open seasonally beginning a couple of weeks before Memorial Day until Columbus Day.  They are open daily from 11:30am to 5:30 pm Monday thru Thursday and Sunday and 11:30am to 7:00pm on Friday and Saturday.

Make sure to put the Lobster Shack on your list of must places to eat this summer.  You too will discover that the Lobster Shack in Branford Connecticut has the best tasting lobster rolls ever!
