Let It Snow-Photos Of Morris Cove New Haven Connecticut

In the past couple of weeks we've been hit with our share of snow up here in the Northeast with the most recent storm hitting our area again last night and a forecast of more this evening.

Before going out on a couple of appointments this afternoon I grabbed my camera and tok a drive through Morris Cove to snap some pictures around Fort Hale Park and Lighthouse Point Park.  Since it was a heavy snowfall it made for some beautiful shots.  One of my favorite pictures today was taken of the Five Mile Point Lighthouse at Lighthouse Point Park.

It was the perfect day to drive around and have the opportunity to capture the beauty of my wonderful neighborhood in Morris Cove New Haven Connecticut today.

The medisan sales price during January-November 2010 was $191,500

The median sales price during January-November 2009 was $208,000.

In reviewing this comparison of longer term data year to year for the Morris Cove area there was a considerable decrease in the average sales price and average median sales price from January-December as compared to 2008.  The sale of a number of distressed properties during 2009 contributed to the lower average sales price year over year. The number of homes sold increased year over year along with the average days on market .

The Carousel at Lighthouse Point Park in Morris Cove New Haven CT is one of only about 100 carousels still in use in this country and is a cherished destination as a piece of New Haven's seaside history.

This truly majestic treasure takes you on a magical ride down memory lane as you ride on one of the 69 beautifully painted and carved horses, two dragon chariots or camel while being enchanted by the music from the Stinson-Wurlitzer band organ

The Carousel at Lighthosue Point Park

Carved in 1916 by local craftsmen, the carousel is decorated with original oil paintings of New Haven local scenery along with mermaids, trains, lighthouses, sailboats and beveled mirrors.

The 5,000 square foot pavilion that is home to the carousel has been beautifully resotred and is available for rental.  It's the perfect spot for weddings, banquets and private functions with its magnificent views of Long Island Sound and the New Haven Harbor.

 

 

Hours of operation during the summer season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) are:

Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Cost: 50 cents

There is a $10 parking fee for non-residents between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Private rentals are available and group reservations are accepted.
