September 11, 2009 - We Must Never Forget
Today the heavens cried in the Northeast as we commemorated the eight-year anniversary of September 11, 2001 to pay honor and tribute in memory of those who died in the devastating attacks that took place, changed our lives and led us to fight against the evil that declared war against our country.
The memories are as vivid today as they were then. Watching the memorials today at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and in Shanksville Pennsylvania I felt such sadness, pain and sorrow for the family and friends who lost a loved one on that blue-skied warm September day.
We saw the true meaning of heroism and bravery demonstrated that day by the FDNY firefighters, the New York City Police Department, the Port Authority Police along with the passengers of Flight 11 & Flight 175 that hit the twin towers of the World Trade Center, Flight 77 that hit The Pentagon and Flight 93 that crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
I pray for the unity we all once shared and brought us together as a nation with such a sense of strength and purpose to care and help one another.
I pray for our brave young men and women of our Armed Forces who continue to defend our liberty and freedom and to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The following tribute that was created a few months after the attacks of September 11, 2001 and brings me to tears each time I watch it.
